They aren't the superstars the league needs to showcase its game. They aren't Jordan or Magic or Bird. They don't have the charisma to be that level. LeBron may have it eventually, but right now, he doesn't. He's getting into a pissing contest with DeShawn Stevenson from the Wizards. Who is this guy? Why is he able to ruffle the feathers of the NBA's elite?
Kobe's "I will pout till I am traded" attitude completely turned me against him this year. Yes, he turned it around in the end, but I am just waiting for him to put his teammates, coach, Shaq, and Jack Nicholson under the bus if they lose before the finals.
I know everyone wants to compare Kobe and LeBron to Jordan, Magic, or Bird. Because it's what the sport needs. It needs someone to hang their hat on, and they are trying real hard.
I guess I should have typed super stars instead of just stars...because they are stars. Just not the superstars the sport needs. LeBron may mature and be that person, but right now, in 2008 he's not. Kobe will never be. The sportswriters loathe Kobe, they see his attitude and respond accordingly. </div></div>

now that i can understand where you are coming from
the league is pretty much banking on lebron and dwade to carry it.
but CP3 has just a bad of an attitude as kobe or lebron, hes really immature.
and cane, the spurs really run more now than 4-5 years ago, parker has developed into one of the top three pgs in the league, he outplayed mvp steve nash in the series.
and ginobli is a blast to watch, he is fun as [censored].

I don't care if they run more than 4-5 years ago or not, they're still boring. That's like saying that Paul Johnson's new offense he's installing at GT will pass more than they did at Navy. It doesn't make it dynamic or entertaining because they're about as entertaining as watching paint dry. Saying they run more is like saying that watching hot pink paint dry is more exciting than watching off-white paint dry--negligible difference.
It's about personalities and having a flair on the court as a team. Take a look at the Wizards/Cavs series right now as an example of two teams who have talent, play well as teams, and are fun to watch play the game because they have passion and fire.
The Spurs simply have next to no entertainment factor for me (and several others fans around) as an NBA team, no matter how many championships they win. Their titles are great--but that's the main reason why they'll never be held in nearly as high of esteem as the Bulls/Lakers/Celtics of old.
Re: Really I understand why people hate pro sports
the spurs dont play with passion and fire?
ginobli doesnt play with flair??
tony parker cant do insane things with the ball?
cane, you're reaching
if the spurs happen to win this year and one more in the next three, then you have to say they were as good as at least the pistons teams of the early 90's and the celtics of the 80's

Biggin, you've got Silver/Black glasses on.
And I may have to say they're as good as those teams, but I won't have to say they're as exciting of a team to watch...because they won't be--at least not to me and a bunch of other NBA fans out there.
Ginobili's sloppy but gets things to fall for him--he's got a knack for that, and Parker's faster than 90% of PG's in the league. That's their strengths--not their passion/flair/fire...none of that. I don't find them entertaining.

Paul Johnson may make me a closet Ramblin Wreck fan. I hope they kick tail in the ACC with that offense.
